  • Knotted at 3-up entering the bottom half of the third, Heber Springs erupted for three runs and continued to add on from there in an 11-3 victory over Pine Bluff Dollarway on Friday in 2-4A Conference play at Panther Field.
Logan Magness led off the third with a walk and scored moments later when Chandler Marquardt belted an RBI double to right center. Michael Kramer followed with a double to center field, hustling around to second once he alertly noticed the bag had been vacated as the Cardinals converged on the ball in shallow center.
With one out, Conner Lindsey drilled a 2 RBI double to deep left field, bringing home Marquardt and Kramer as the Panthers pushed their lead to 6-3 before Dollarway escaped further harm.
The Panthers would add five more runs and right-handed pitcher Dillion Moore shut down the Cardinals over the final four frames as Heber claimed its first conference win of the season.
After a rocky start, Moore found a groove, striking out 12 and only allowing four hits and two walks through seven innings.
Kramer finished 3 for 3 with a single, double, three stolen bases and an RBI, while catcher Tyler Moss was 3 for 4 with a single, two doubles and three RBI.
Lindsey (2 for 4 with a double, triple and three RBI) and Marquardt (2 for 4 with a single double and six stolen bases) each collected two hits for the Panthers, who open district tournament play at 4 p.m. on Thursday versus Dollarway.
The winner faces the winner of Newport and Stuttgart at 7 p.m. for a shot at regionals.
The Panthers improved to 10-13 overall, including 1-5 in conference.
