  • Southside Batesville pitcher Sydney Fuller tossed a one-hitter and launched a two-run home run as the fifth-seeded Lady Southerners slugged fourth-seeded Heber Springs 10-0 on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the 2-4A District Tournament.

  • Southside Batesville pitcher Sydney Fuller tossed a one-hitter and launched a two-run home run as the fifth-seeded Lady Southerners slugged fourth-seeded Heber Springs 10-0 on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the 2-4A District Tournament.
    Southside (14-10) jumped all over Heber, taking a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning as Alexa Lewellin walked and scored on a sacrifice-bunt turned throwing error, then Maigan Johnson drilled an RBI double to the alley in deep left center.
    Savannah Wyatt looped an RBI double to right center, extending the Lady Southerners’ lead to 3-0 before Heber pitcher Tess Temple retired two straight, including one by strikeout.
    Johnson doubled and scored on a throwing error in the third and Fuller crushed her two-run home run in the fifth, scoring Wyatt, who singled up the middle with one out.
    Leading 6-0, Southside added four runs on three hits in the sixth inning, which featured an 2 RBI double by Johnson and an RBI single from Wyatt and a pinch-hitter as the Lady Southerners won 10-0 in six innings.
    Madi Fires had Heber’s lone hit.
