  • Blue skies, sunshine, SUMMER’S SALVATION!  But as you head to the lakes, campsites and family activities, let’s keep the experiences pleasant and pain free.

Remember “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” and you’ll thank yourself for bringing along these items to insure happy memories of those summer outings.

Spend a couple minutes first to mix your own sunscreen in a spray bottle.  In a 2 ounce or larger bottle, add 60 drops each of helichrysum and lavender essential oils.  Purchase only certified pure therapeutic grade (CPTG) oils.  For extreme sensitivity, alternate sandalwood oil for the lavender.  Fill with fractionated coconut oil and you’ve just created the perfect sunscreen with no harmful chemicals or toxins.  You’re a genius!

Now, as with all geniuses comes absentmindedness.  Not to worry!  You’ve made certain to pack your spray bottle of sunburn ointment.  Look at you!  This was so easy because it only required 20 drops of lavender for soothing and healing, and 20 drops of peppermint for cooling.  The remainder consists only of water or perhaps fractionated coconut oil.  Shake well and apply as soon as possible, repeating every 2 hours for continued relief.

“Pale faces” may choose to continue with a blend of 20 drops frankincense, 20 drops lavender and 1 ounce fractionated coconut oil.  Spray or apply topically 2 to 4 times daily.  Add 20 drops of melaleuca (tea tree oil) to prevent any infection from blistering.

Keep pesky insects at bay with your natural repellent of 8 drops lemongrass, 4 drops thyme, 4 drops lavender and 4 drops peppermint.  Use a few drops of the mixture on a cotton ball placed near pillows, windows, balconies, in cabins and camping tents.  To apply topically, blend 3 teaspoons of fractionated coconut oil or 3 of your favorite lotion, with 3 drops of the natural repellant.

That’s it.  You’re a success!  Once again you’ve saved the day “the natural way” with pure, all natural essential oils.
