Clara Hargadine died June 10, 2014
Clara Lou Cook Hargadine is the daughter of Hazel Pope Cook and Miles J. Cook who retired in Heber Springs in 1960. She was born October 12, 1929 in Wichita, Kansas.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Millicent Haigwood, and brothers, Carlton C. Cook and John J. Cook.
Her life cannot be summed up in a few short sentences. Clara was feisty and funny--bold and beautiful. She faced life's challenges head-on with courage and class. At age eighteen she taught in a one-room school in the plains of Kansas and taught in different places later. She was an excellent seamstress, artistic and bright. A life-long learner, she enjoyed college classes ranging from geology to criminal justice. She was an encourager, caring and compassionate--always working hard for her family.
Clara was a long-time employee of the Red Apple Inn and made many close friends there.
She is survived her three daughters, Lynn Sartain, Nancy Kearney, and Kay Kerley, and son, Scott Hargadine - whom are all very thankful for her love and support. Her spirit will live on in the laughter of her precious five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Clara found her peace in the loving arms of God on June 10, 2014.
Her family will all come together from across the country to honor her in a private celebration of her life.
