  • Ollie Fae Jackson, 92, a retired teacher from Heber Springs, passed away July 23, 2014 in Heber Springs, Arkansas.  She was born September 19, 1921 in Hiram, Arkansas to the late League Thomas Jackson and Ethel Henderson Jackson.   
    She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Glenn, Carnell, Alvin and Marlin Jackson, nephews Douglas Jackson and Jerry Lee Jackson.               
    Miss Jackson graduated from Pangburn  School and went to a business college in Chillicothe, Missouri.  She moved to Richmond, California to work as a payroll clerk.  She returned home and attended Arkansas State Teacher's College (now UCA) and later earned her BSE degree.  She began teaching in Pangburn, Ashdown  and Maynard, then came to Heber Springs as the business education teacher in 1951. She retired in 1981 and continued living in Heber Springs.
    During her years at Heber Springs Miss Jackson went on senior class trips in "the big yellow bus" as a senior class co-sponsor.  She organized and sponsored the Commercial Club which later became FBLA; sponsored the school paper "The Panther";  and the 1962 yearbook was dedicated to Miss Jackson.  She was named Cleburne County Teacher of the Year during her career.
    After retirement Miss Jackson enjoyed crochet, embroidery, quilting, gardening and flowers.  She spent much of her time helping others during illness.
    Miss Jackson was a member of Heber Springs First United Methodist Church, UMW, Wesleyan Circle, Cleburne County Retired Teachers Association and a past member of the Order of Easter Star.
    Miss Jackson is survived by a niece Connie Jackson of McKinleyville, CA;  a nephew Eddie Jackson (JoEllen) of Stuttgart, AR;  great nieces Stacy Crossen (Will) of Pangburn, AR and Melissa Sullivan (Chris) of Cabot, AR ; several other relatives and many friends whose memories of her they will cherish.
    Funeral service was Saturday, July 26 at 1:00pm at Olmstead Chapel with Rev. Tommy Toombs officiating.  Interment was in Henderson Cemetery in Pangburn.  Pallbearers were Bobby Holland, Jim Lay, Bruce Stair and Larry Crabtree.  Arrangements by Olmstead Funeral Home.  www.olmstead.cc
