  • The Heber Springs boys and girls golf teams opened their season on August 4 at Red Apple and have since played three more matches, including a round on Monday at Mountain Springs in Cabot.
    In the season-opening match at Red Apple, freshman sensation James Bull and junior Chase Gallaway led the Panthers with rounds of 85, while senior Jacob Joy posted a 91. Sophomores Jordan Adkins (95), Blake Eddington (91) and Brandon Bradke (106) also competed for Heber. Senior Lawson Hamilton, the Lady Panthers top golfer this season, fired a round of 96.
    The following day Heber traveled to Eagle Mountain Country Club in Batesville, but the scores have yet to be posted.
    Heber returned to Red Apple last Thursday, where Gallaway shot a round of 76 to lead the Panthers to victory over Lonoke and Southside Batesville.  Adkins added a 79, while Bull finished with an 82 to round out the Panthers’ three-player total of 237.
    Hamilton posted a score of 101 last Thursday at Red Apple and freshman Delaney Drexler participated in her first high school golf match.
    On Monday, Heber headed south for a 9-hole round at Mountain Springs in Cabot, where Bull led the Panthers with a round of 42. Joy and Adkins each finished with a score of 45, while Gallaway (50) and Eddington (54) also competed for the Panthers.
    Hamilton led the Lady Panthers at Mountain Springs with a 9-hole score of 53 and Drexler followed with a 63. Freshman Nicole Kullsnick added a 68 for the Lady Panthers.
    Heber’s golf teams hit the course again on Thursday at Red Apple. Tee time is set for 2 p.m.
