Do a little bargain hunting
If hitting the garage sales is your idea of weekend fun, this weekend offers a number of opportunities to bargain-hunt while also helping out some local fundraisers in the process.
• Union Christian Academy is holding its rescheduled annual yard sale fundraiser from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 4201 Windsor Ave.
• Greenwood First Assembly of God's Bizzy Bee Bazaar will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the church, 725 Park Drive in Greenwood. Proceeds help support the church's food ministry.
• The Friends of the Library's annual Used Book Sale: Mostly Fiction will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 1-5 p.m. Sunday at Fort Smith Public Library, 3201 Rogers Ave.
Visit the Learning Fields at Chaffee Crossing
The Learning Fields at Chaffee Crossing, 7300 Gardener Ave., will be open from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. The Rose Garden and the Welcome Garden will be featured. There also will be a Garden Giveaway on a first come, first serve basis. Seeds will be given away courtesy of Sutherland's.

Celebrate Archaeology Day at Spiro Mounds
The Archaeology Day/Birthday Bash at Spiro Mounds will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Spiro Mounds Archaeological Center, 18154 First St. in Spiro. There will be an archaeologist to identify artifacts, flintknappers (stone tool makers) showing their skills, a spotlight on artist Chase Kahwinhut Earles, who will display some of his Caddoan wares inspired by Spiro Mounds art and others. A guided tour will take place at 2 pm lead by archaeologist Dennis Peterson.

Join the fight against cancer
Relay For Life, the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, will be held from 4-10 p.m. Saturday on the Greenwood Square, 440 E. Gary St. in Greenwood. It is a team fundraising event where team members take turns walking around a path. Each team is asked to have a member on the track at all times to signify that cancer never sleeps and to collect donations for food, goods, games and activities.
