Heavy, wet snow slowed traffic and closed area schools Monday after two to three inches fell overnight Sunday and into Monday. Several more inches of snow were forecast for Monday afternoon and night.

Roads were fairly clear up until 1:30 p.m. or so Monday, when roadways became snow covered and very slick. A few accidents were reported around Quitman in Faulkner County and Van Buren County.
