 Wednesday Readers to Meet
The Wednesday Reader's Book Club will meet in the library March 11 at 11 a.m. to discuss Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky.  Anyone interested in joining the book club may stop by the library for more information.
Friends of the Library to Meet
The March meeting of the FOL will be held at the library at 1 p.m. March 12.  Anyone interested in attending the meeting is welcome.
Humane Society to Meet
The Heber Springs Humane Society General Membership meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 19, at 7 p.m.  The meeting will be held at the Municipal Building.
Care Cap Meeting
Community sew-in for cancer meets Tuesday, March 10, 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m., First Electric Cooperative. Public encouraged to help. Fabrics and sewing machines provided. No experience necessary. Garments go to our local hospital for women in chemotherapy.
DAR to Meet
The Little Red River Chapter NSDAR will meet at Fairfield Bay on March 13.  The meeting will be held at the Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church at noon.  The program "Patriotism" will be given by Fern Taylor, Past State Regent. Beekeepers to Meet
The Cleburne County Beekeepers Association will meet on March 10 (the second Tuesday of the month), at the Community Room of the First Arkansas Bank and Trust, 1230 HWY 25B, Heber Springs, between the Wal-Mart and Sonic.
Writers Guild To Meet
Cleburne County Writers Guild will hold its regular monthly meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening, March 9, at the City Municipal Building on Main Street, Heber Springs. Newcomers to Meet

BPW to Meet
Heber Springs Business and Professional Women will hold its’ March meeting on the 19th at 5:30 p.m. at the Housing Authority on Park and Spring Streets.  Penny Choate-Collins, Attorney at Law, will be the guest speaker for the evening.  The 2009 scholarship winners will be introduced, and Helen Milantoni and Tina Hartsfield will be the hostesses for the evening.  For information, please call 362-5229.
Retired Teachers to Meet
Cleburne County retired teachers will meet at McPherson's Restaurant March 10 at 8:30 a.m. for a breakfast meeting. Lonnie Rowlett, retired school administrator from Quitman, will share information about legislation and an invitation to State Representative Lance Reynolds to meet with retired teachers in May to discuss legislation affecting their retirement benefits. Legislation being considered will be in the Newsletter and will be discussed at the meeting. Please come share your ideas on the economy and other matters concerning retirement benefits.
CC Republican Women to Meet
Cleburne County Republican Women will meet on Saturday, March 7, at city hall at 10:30 a.m. All conservative women are welcome.

Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group to Meet
Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group-Heber Springs chapter meets the 1st Tuesday each month, 6:30 pm at Red River Physical Therapy in the Cornerstone Square Building.  Respite care is available during the meeting. Contact Wendy 362-7025 for more info.
Domestic Abuse Support Group
A support group is offered for those who are or have experienced domestic abuse. Members sit back and listen or join in conversation. A confidentiality agreement is signed at each meeting. The group meets every first and third Monday night at 5 p.m. Babysitter is available upon request. Call 362-6757 for details.
BHMC-HS Auxiliary to Meet
Baptist Health Medical Center-Heber Springs Auxiliary meets the third Tuesday of each month at 2:30 p.m. in the hospital cafeteria.  DivorceCare Support Group

Sweet Sound of Praise
Sweet Sound of Praise will be held Saturday, March 14, at Corner Stone Full Gospel Church on Wilburn Road in Heber Springs. Come join them for a mix of bluegrass, country gospel, and southern gospel picking and singing. Bible Class
Don't Know Much About the Bible? Wear your jeans and come to a casual, no-pressure Sunday morning class especially for those who feel they don't know much about the Bible. Friendship Community Church (Dry Mountain Road between Wilburn and Ida) will be having a Revival beginning Thursday evening, March 5 and concluding Sunday morning, March 8.  Brother Terry Mote will speak Thursday at 7 p.m.; Brother Steve Jones will speak Friday at 7 p.m.; Brother Jr. Roland will speak Saturday at 7 p.m. and Pastor Samuel Wildmon will conclude on Sunday morning at 11 a.m.
The Unlimited Realm Conference
International speakers, Damon Thompson and Karen Wheaton will be at The Church Alive on Friday, March 13 - Sunday, March 15, for the Unlimited Realm Conference. Love Caps Sew-in
On Tuesday, March 17, at 9:30 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, 14000 Eden Isle Pike Heber Springs, the ladies of Hope Lutheran's Mary Circle are inviting friends in the community to come help cut and sew caps for friends that are undergoing chemotherapy or experiencing baldness. All hats will be given away free to friends that can use them.  They will need some machines and sewing supplies. Materials will be furnished. Bring bag lunches, drinks will be furnished. Donkey Basketball
Pangburn FBLA is sponsoring a donkey basketball game Friday, March 6, at 7 p.m. in the high school gym. Students will be competing with the adult team. Tickets are $6 in advance and $8 at the door and may be purchased from the high school office. The Heber Springs PTSO will host a Kidfest on Saturday, March 7, from 12 p.m. -  3 p.m. at the Heber Springs P.E. Building. Each class participates with a booth set-up carnival style. Girl Scouts now delivering cookies
If you placed an order you should be getting them soon - If we missed you or you want more there will be booths set up at Wal-Mart on March 7 and 14 from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Come by and support your local Girl Scout Troops.
Gospel Opry

Little Rock Bus Trip
The First Presbyterian Church, 1313 W. Pine St. Heber Springs, is taking a bus trip to Little Rock, Friday, March 6. Cops that Care Charity Scramble
The first Sheriff Moss Cops that Care Charity Scramble will be held Friday, April 3, at 1 p.m. with shotgun start (possible 8:30 a.m. flight depending on number of teams). Special guest will be former PGA tour player and 2007 US Senior Amateur Champion Stan Lee. This four-person scramble will be held at Red Apple Inn & Country Club in Heber Springs and will be benefiting the children at the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches.
Red Barn Dance Now Open Four Nights A Week
The Red Barn is now open four nights a week. Join in for music and dancing at The Red Barn every Tuesday from 7 - 10 p.m.,  Thursday night from 7 - 10 p.m., is Karaoke night; Friday night from 7-10 p.m. is open mic and Saturday night from 7 to 10 p.m. is open mic. Musicians looking for a place to play, you are welcome at the Red Barn. Membership is $1 per year. There are potlucks once a month, cake walks, guest bands, a kid’s korner, and more.
Gental Yoga Class
A gental yoga class for cancer patients, survivors, and their family members will be held at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. This is a free class that will be held every Monday and is appropriate to all levels of ability. The focus will be on the breath and gentle, relaxing poses to promote stress relief and help lessen pain and nausea. Junior Spring Livestock Show
The North Central Arkansas District Junior Spring Livestock Show will be April 2 and 3, at the Izard County Fairgrounds at Melbourne. The horses will show at 7 p.m. on Thursday night and the sheep and goats will show 2 p.m. and cattle will show at 4 p.m. Check in time for the goats and sheep will be 12 p.m. and cattle check in will be at 2 p.m. The entries are due March 23 and late entries will be accessed double fees. Please see your board member or the extension office in your county for entries forms.
Sugarloaf Talent Contest
The Sugarloaf Talent Contest will be held Saturday April 18, at 3 p.m. at ASU-Heber Springs. Hosted by Gamma Beta Phi Chapter of ASU Heber Springs, the contest benefits Heifer International. Blood Drive
Baptist Health in Heber Springs will sponsor a Community Blood Drive on Friday, March 6, from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.  Bad weather early this month caused the ARC to cancel many blood drives throughout the state. Short Story Writing Contest
Cleburne County Writers Guild, which meets from 6 to 8 p.m. every second Monday at the Heber Springs City Municipal Building on Main Street, is sponsoring a short story writing contest. Eligibility: Cleburne County residents, over 18 years of age. Winners (1st - 3rd place) will receive monetary recognition. Deadline for postmark: on or before June 1. Guidelines and rules may be picked up at one of the following businesses: Cleburne County Historical Society or library.
Social Security E-Services Awareness Event
The Social Security Offices in Conway and Searcy invite the public to come into the office on St. Patrick's Day to learn about the online services available at www.socialsecurity.gov. The public is invited to learn more about Social Security's internet services and the helpful information available regarding planning for retirement, inquiring about disability, or questions about other benefits. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, March 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
