Humane Society to Meet
The Heber Springs Humane Society Membership meeting will be held on Thursday, February 19,  at 7 p.m.  The meeting will be held at the Municipal Building.
Heber BPW to Meet
Heber Springs Business and Professional Women will hold its February meeting on the 19th at 5:30 p.m. at the Housing Authority on Park and Spring Streets.  Winifred Stamps, AR/BPW Treasurer will be the guest speaker for the evening.  There will be a silent auction to raise money for scholarships for the State Foundation.  For information, please call 362-5229. BHMC-HS Auxiliary to Meet
Baptist Health Medical Center-Heber Springs Auxiliary meets the third Tuesday of each month at 2:30 p.m. in the hospital cafeteria. If you are interested in learning more about the Auxiliary or wish to join, you are invited to attend. PEO Sisterhood to Meet
The regular meeting of Chapter DB, PEO Sisterhood will meet on Thursday, February 19, at 1 p.m. at the U.S. Bank, Heber Springs.  Ellen Bankston will conduct the program.  Hostesses will be Georgianne Schoettle and June Striffler.
CAPCA to Meet
Community Action Program tor Centras Arkansas (CAPCA) will hold a Public Hearing Thursday , February 19, at 2 p.m. It will be held at the CAPCA Administrative Office- 707 Robins Suite 118, Conway. Audubon Society to Meet
The Little Red River Audubon Society will meet Tuesday, February 24, at 7 p.m. at Indian Hills Country Club, 337 Sneed Drive, Fairfield Bay. Program presented by Kristen Bartlow from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Gulf Mountain WMA near Scotland. NARFE to Meet
The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) monthly meeting will be held on February 20 at the First Electric Building, 150 Industrial Road, Heber Springs. The annual chili luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m.  The hosts, Wanda and Leon McAnear will provide their famous "deer chili" and Lynn Williams will provide "regular chili". Also, all the trimmings: cheese, onions, crackers, cheese, Fritoes and bowls will be furnished. The four-hour course, Southwest Safe Driving, will begin approximately at 12:30 p.m. after the luncheon and meeting.  The cost is $10 to cover materials and will enable you to get up to a 20 percent vehicle insurance discount for three years.  Any questions, please call Lynn, 362-0092.
Camping Club to Meet
All persons interested in joining a camping club, the Sugarloaf Sams Chapter of the Good Sams Club, will meet Wednesday, February 25, at 9 a.m. for a Dutch-treat breakfast at the Rustic Inn in Heber Springs. For further information, call 870-668-3633.
Renegar Apartments Board to Meet
The annual Board of Directors meeting of Renegar Apartments, Inc. will be held Thursday, February 26, in the community room at Renegar Apartments, 75 Cadron Creek Road, in Quitman. The meeting will convene at 9:30 a.m. Included in the agenda are the housing update, program report, financial statements and election of officers.

 Fat Tuesday Chili Supper
Holiday Hills United Methodist will celebrate Fat Tuesday, February 24, with their annual chili supper from 4-7 p.m.  Tickets will be $5 for adults and $2.50 for children.  There will also be take-out orders.  Tickets can be obtained by calling the Church office at 825-7301 or from any member of the congregation. The following day, February 25 will be Ash Wednesday and there will services at 6 p.m.  Everyone is invited.
Shrove Tuesday Mardi Gras Dinner
A Shrove Tuesday Mardi Gras dinner will be held February 24 from 5 - 8 p.m.  Call St. Barnabas Anglican Church, located at 509 W. Main St. in Heber Springs, at 501-362-6700 for tickets.

Mardi Gras
Mardi Gras II will be held at St. Albert Catholic Church Hall on Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m.  Tickets are $8, please call Eva Bissionette (250-0194) to reserve tickets.  There will be fun, food, fellowship and live music by Fred Prentice's Group.  Come celebrate.
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper
A Shrove Tuesday pancake supper will be held at St. Francis Episcopal Church, located on Hwy. 110 West in Heber Springs on February 24 from 5-7 p.m. All you can eat, $5.
Pancake Dinner
The Quitman Untied Methodist Church presents Fireproof on February 21. Join them for a pancake dinner from 5-6 p.m. Sponsored by their youth group. The movie will start at 6 p.m.
Ash Wednesday
Hope Lutheran Church, 14000 Eden Isle Pike, will observe Ash Wednesday, February 25, at 6 p.m., with a Communion service worship. Hope invites everyone to worship together as the Lenten journey begins, which includes the traditional imposition of ashes.
Representatives in Concert
The Representatives” will be in concert at the Wilburn Community Church in Wilburn, (on Highway 110 East, across from Pam's Pit Stop), Saturday evening, February 21, at 6:30 p.m.  Snacks and fellowship following the music.  Please join in, everyone is welcome.
DivorceCare Support Group
DivorceCare support group meetings are being held each Thursday night from 6-8 p.m. at Lone Star Baptist Church in Greers Ferry (350 Lone Star Lane).  Childcare is available.  Meetings are open to all the surrounding community.  If you would like more information contact Rondal Richardson at 501-206-9064.
Ash Wednesday Services
Trinity Lutheran Church at 300 Trailwood Drive will have Ash Wednesday service at 1 p.m. February 25 with Holy Communion. The public is invited.

Polar Bear Plunge
The coaches from Area 6 are setting up a Polar Bear Plunge to support Arkansas Special Olympics. All donations will go to help the kids and adults participate in the Special Olympics. If you would like to take the plunge or sponsor someone, please call 362-3397 or email April at aprilallen1@netscape.net. This plunge will take place at Sandy Beach in Heber Springs on February 21 at 2 p.m.
 Dining and Dancing
Enjoy an evening of dining and dancing on Saturday, February 28 at 6 p.m. at the Heber Springs High School cafeteria. Dinner music will be provided by the Heber Springs High Jazz Band. Jazz Xtreme will then be playing. Tickets for both dinner and dancing are $15 per person and may be purchased from any band student, by calling the band office at 362-3141 or 362-2488 or will be available at the door. All proceeds benefit the David Elliot Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Girl Scouts Celebrate World Thinking Day
The Lake and River Area Girls Scouts will be celebrating “World Thinking Day” on Saturday, February 21, at Southside Baptist Church in Heber Springs. World Thinking Day lets girls honor other Girl Scouts and Girl Guides around the world by seeing what their country is like and how they live. Also they are collecting non-perishable foods, water, diapers, baby food and formula for the food bank at Cleburne County Cares, which is running low and the Girl Scouts are helping replenish it.  Please help them fill their trailer. They will be in front of Southside Baptist Church.  Stop by and make a donation. They are collecting donations from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church on Hwy 25 Bypass. Also they will be signing up any girl that wishes to join Girl Scouts.
No Written Test
There will be no written test on the morning of Wednesday, February 18. Road tests will begin at 12:30 p.m.
