Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group to Meet
Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group-Heber Springs chapter meets the 1st Tuesday each month, 6:30 pm at Red River Physical Therapy in the Cornerstone Square Building. Respite care is available during the meeting. Contact Wendy 362-7025 for more info.
Domestic Abuse Support Group
A support group is offered for those who are or have experienced domestic abuse. Members sit back and listen or join in conversation. A confidentiality agreement is signed at each meeting. The group meets every first and third Monday night at 5 p.m. Babysitter is available upon request. Call 362-6757 for details.
BHMC-HS Auxiliary to Meet
Baptist Health Medical Center-Heber Springs Auxiliary meets the third Tuesday of each month at 2:30 p.m. in the hospital cafeteria. Wednesday Readers to Meet
The Wednesday Reader’s Book Club will meet in the library April 8 at 11 a.m. to discuss Thirteen Moons by Charles Frazier. Anyone interested in joining the Book Club may stop by the Cleburne County Library for more information.
Humane Society to Meet
The Heber Springs Humane Society General Membership meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 16, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Municipal Building.
Cleburne County Republican party to meet
The monthly meeting of the Republican Party of Cleburne County will meet April 6 at 5:30 in the Entergy Room on the ASU campus. The public is welcome to attend.
Lions Club to Meet
The Heber Springs Lions will meet Tuesday, April 7, at Michael’s Restaurant at 6:30 p.m. Final plans for the TV auction will be made. All members are urged to attend.
Magness Chapel Cemetery Meeting
The Magness Cemetery annual meeting will be held April 9 at 7 p.m. at Friendship Community Church on Dry Mountain Road. Members will be voting on three board members.
DAR to Meet
The Little Red River Chapter NSDAR will meet on April 10 in Heber Springs for a salad luncheon. The meeting will be held at noon at the First Presbyterian Church. Newcomers to Meet
Cleburne County Newcomers Club will meet April 9 at the First Electric Building, 150 Industrial Park Road, Heber Springs. This meeting will be a potluck brunch. Members are asked to bring a dish to share. There will be an installation of officers for the coming year. They are also asked to bring a contribution for the city food pantry. The American Legion #64 will have bingo every Friday at 6:30 p.m. and every Monday at 6:30 p.m.
Sugarloaf Talent Contest
The Sugarloaf Talent Contest will be held Saturday April 18, at 3 p.m. at ASU-Heber Springs. Registration ends April 3. Registration fees are $10 individual and $20 group. Hosted by Gamma Beta Phi Chapter of ASU Heber Springs, the contest benefits Children’s Miracle Network and Heifer International. Registration forms available at ASU Searcy, ASU Heber Springs, Jitterbug Coffee House, Heber Springs High School, and Hastings in Searcy. Gental Yoga Class
A gental yoga class for cancer patients, survivors, and their family members will be held at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. This is a free class that will be held every Monday and is appropriate to all levels of ability. The focus will be on the breath and gentle, relaxing poses to promote stress relief and help lessen pain and nausea. Short Story Writing Contest
Cleburne County Writers Guild, which meets from 6 to 8 p.m. every second Monday at the Heber Springs City Municipal Building on Main Street, is sponsoring a short story writing contest. Eligibility: Cleburne County residents, over 18 years of age. Winners (1st - 3rd place) will receive monetary recognition. Deadline for postmark: on or before June 1. Guidelines and rules may be picked up at one of the following businesses: Cleburne County Historical Society or library.

Food Donation
Jackson Hewitt Tax Service and Cleburne County Cares have teamed up to provide “Food For The Hungry” in the community. Donate 10 non-perishable food items at your local Jackson Hewitt tax office located at 906 Hwy 25B North Business in Heber Springs through April 3 and you will receive a coupon for a $25 discount off tax preparation and Jackson Hewitt will match your donation item for item. If you already had your return prepared this year, you will receive a coupon good for next year.
Golf Tournament
A golf tournament will be held on Saturday, April 18, at Lost Creek Golf Course. It will be a four-man scramble. The cost is $50 per person. Prizes will be given for longest drive, closest to pen and Muligans. Shotgun start is at 9 a.m. Golf carts and lunch will be provided. The deadline for registration is April 15. Omelet Breakfast
The Allan Elkins Memorial Omelet Breakfast will be held April 4 from 7-11 a.m. at the Heber Springs High School cafeteria. This event is sponsored by Rotary Club of Cleburne County. Adults, $5 donation. Children under 10 are free.
Hopewell Mexican Dinner
The Hopewell Fire District Auxiliary will host a taco dinner on April 17, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the main fire station on Firehouse Road. Cost will be $5 for adults, and $2 for children. Alzheimer’s Arkansas Benefit Ride
Walk or Ride to support your neighbor, your friend, your loved one, yourself in the Alzheimer’s Arkansas Walks third Annual Thunder and Chrome Benefit Ride. The event will take place on October 31 in Fairfield Bay at Woodland Mead Park. The proceeds from the ride fund programs and services for the more than 100,000 Arkansans affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. The annual Post clean up will be held April 18 beginning at 8 a.m. at the Saxon Willis American Legion Post #64, 49 Park Drive in Heber Springs.
Nicholas Project
The Nicholas Project, which makes clothes for pre-mature babies, meets the 2nd Thursday of every month from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. We need volunteers! We have some sewing machines as well as patterns and fabric. For questions and location call Eloise Bittle at (501) 362-3231.
Master Gardeners Dig In
The Van Buren County Master Gardeners are busy planning for their annual plant sale. It is scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 8 a.m. - noon. In addition, Janet Carson, horticulture Specialist, U of AR Extension Service, will be their featured guest. Late winter and early spring are ideal times to dig up plants you no longer want or to divide those that have overgrown their space. It’s hard work and requires the right tools, as well as amended soil to add back into the space vacated. The Master Gardeners are willing to come to your home, dig and divide, then replant and replenish the soil for you. They will take the unwanted portion of those plants, repot them, care for them, and use them in their plant sale. Beautify your planting spaces and help their sale to be even more successful. Cops that Care Charity Scramble
The first Sheriff Moss Cops that Care Charity Scramble will be held Friday, April 3, at 1 p.m. with shotgun start (possible 8:30 a.m. flight depending on number of teams). Special guest will be former PGA tour player and 2007 US Senior Amateur Champion Stan Lee. This four-person scramble will be held at Red Apple Inn & Country Club in Heber Springs and will be benefiting the children at the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches.
Rose Bud Kindergarten Registration
Rose Bud Kindergarten Registration will be Monday, April 6, and Tuesday, April 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
Pancake Breakfast
Concord High School’s Beta Club will sponsor a pancake breakfast community outreach on Saturday, April 18, from 7 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Concord cafeteria. $2 for senior citizens; $5 for adults and children. Pancakes, sausage, bacon, sweets, and more.
Easter Celebration
Kids ages 2 and up are welcome Saturday, April 4, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Trinity Full Gospel Church for an egg hunt with lots of fun and prizes. Lunch will be served. The church is located on Hwy 92 between Drasco and Greers Ferry.
Easter Egg Hunt
Greers Ferry Optimist Club will sponsor their annual Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 11, at the City Park in Greers Ferry with a rain date of 2 p.m. Easter Sunday. It is for pre-school through kindergarten; first - third grade; and fourth - sixth grade. The Easter bunny will be there as well as a balloon man and a clown.

The First United Methodist Church will hold an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 11, at 10 a.m. sharp for babies through fifth grade.
Quitman Easter Egg Hunt
Quitman’s second annual Easter egg hunt is set for Saturday, April 5. The event is set for 10:30 a.m. at the high school football field. This year’s hunt will feature hundreds of dollars in prizes, including savings bonds, bicycles, gift certificates, cash and more. Local businesses donated the prizes for the three age divisions – 0-4, 5-8, and 9-12. One of the highlights of the hunt will include free photos with the Easter bunny.
