Lions to Meet
The Heber Springs Lions will meet Tuesday, May 5, at Michael’s Restaurant. A brief board of directors meeting will be held following the regular meeting. All members are urged to attend.
Republican Party to Meet
 The Cleburne County Republican Party will meet on Tuesday, May 5, at 5:30 p.m. in the Entergy Room at ASU in Heber.  Please note the meeting will now be held on the first Tuesday of each month.  The public is more than welcome to attend.
Brewer School Preservation Meeting
Brewer School House Preservation planning meeting and grounds cleanup will be held Saturday, May 2, at 9 a.m. Bring garden tools.  Help save this historic old school building.  Financial contributions needed. Contact Dan Verser at 501-362-2170 or 870-612-7502.
Alzheimer’s Caregiver  Support Group to Meet
Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group-Heber Springs chapter meets the 1st Tuesday each month, 6:30 pm at Red River Physical Therapy in the Cornerstone Square Building.  Respite care is available during the meeting. Contact Wendy 362-7025 for more info.
Al-Anon to Meet

Weight Watchers meets Tuesdays at the Tea Room. Weigh in is at 4:30 p.m. Meeting starts at 5:30 p.m.
Domestic Abuse Support Group
A support group is offered for those who are or have experienced domestic abuse. Members sit back and listen or join in conversation. A confidentiality agreement is signed at each meeting. The group meets every first and third Monday night at 5 p.m. Babysitter is available upon request. Call 362-6757 for details.
Daisy Patch Quilters to Meet

Annual Spring Brunch
The Ladies Annual Spring Brunch will be held Saturday, May 2, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene at 8th and Quitman Streets, Heber Springs. The guest speaker will be Jane Krutz and music will be provided by Fredona Currie. There is no admission charge and a special invitation is extended to all ladies of the community to enjoy a time of fellowship.
Drasco Community Revival
The Drasco Community Revival will be held May 3-7 at the Pleasant Ridge General Baptist Church at 7 p.m. nightly. Speakers will be the local pastors: Sunday, Bro. Gospel Opry

Hope Lutheran Pig Roast
The Annual Dale Johnson Memorial Pig Roast, Sponsored by Hope Lutheran Church, 14000 Eden Isle Pike, Heber Springs, will be held in their parish hall Saturday, May 2, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Adults $8, Students $4 ages 12 years to 5 years, under 5 free. All you can eat includes pulled pork, baked beans, slaw, potato salad, dessert and drink. Tickets may be purchased in advance from church members or at the door. Walk-ins are welcome. Matching fund from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will be received and applied toward the Building fund of Hope Lutheran. Come and enjoy.
Bingo
Bingo at St. Albert Church on May 2.  Come to 21 Park Road in Heber Springs and enjoy the fun and fellowship.  Games begin at 5:30 p.m. Concession stand is available.  Must be 18 to play.  Proceeds go to building a new church.  Good payoffs. Good luck to all. There will be a $500 bonus jackpot!

DivorceCare Support Group
DivorceCare support group meetings are being held each Thursday night from 6-8 p.m. at Lone Star Baptist Church in Greers Ferry (350 Lone Star Lane).  Childcare is available.  Meetings are open to all the surrounding community. 4-H Smoked Pork Sale
The Cleburne County 4-H Shooting Sports group is selling smoked pork shoulder butts for $30.  Orders will be available May 15 and 16.   You can also come by Dr. Meyers' office parking lot located at 1511 Hwy. 25B North on Saturday, May 16 to pick up smoked pork. Contact any 4-H Shooting Sports member to place your order.  You can also place an order by calling 501-728-4755. Proceeds go towards registration fees for upcoming June and July 4-H competitions, July International expenses, and for the purchase of any needed equipment.
Friendship Cemetery Clean Up
The Friendship Cemetery clean up will be held Saturday morning, May 2.  There will be water, coffee, cokes and donuts. All old flowers will be picked up and disposed of prior to Saturday morning. The cemetery is located on Five Mile Road in Drasco. Any questions please call 870-668-4013.
Community Garage Sale
A community garage sale will be held at the Fairfield Bay Senior Center on May 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Hurry and get your table rented now. $10 for small table; $15 for large table. Come by the Senior Center any day between Tuesday and Friday 9 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. or call 884-7800.
Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten registration will be held May 8 at Heber Springs Elementary School Library. You may choose a session to attend, 9 – 10 a.m. or 1 – 2 p.m. (You will need to attend the entire hour. Each session promptly begins at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Activities are planned for the hour session for the children enrolling for kindergarten. Please bring your child's shot record, birth certificate, and social security card. If you do not have these, please attend anyway and complete our paperwork.

Boston Butt Roasts
Once again, Heber Springs Rotary Club will be selling smoked Boston Butt Roasts.  Each roast will cost $30.  All profits will be used to fund college scholarships for worthy high school students of Heber Springs.  A smoked Boston Butt Roast makes a wonderful meal.  Roasts will be ready for pick up on Saturday, May 2, at 9 a.m.  To order a smoked Boston Butt Roast call 501-362-6018, see any member of Heber Springs Rotary Club (while quantities last).  Don’t wait too long, or they’ll all be gone!
Beginner Fly Tying Class
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers William Carl Garner Visitor Center is offering a free beginner fly tying class on Tuesday, May 5, from 4 – 6 p.m. in the auditorium of the William Carl Garner Visitor Center.  The class is available to those ages 12 and older and a limit of 15 participants will be allowed. You must pre-register for this event by calling the William Carl Garner Visitor Center at 501-362-9067. Other upcoming free fishing seminars for 2009 will be held at the William Carl Garner Visitor Center and are scheduled as follows: June 20-Beginner Fly Fishing from 10 a.m. – noon; July 18-Basic Trout Fishing from 10 a.m. – noon; August 1-Intermediate Trout Fishing from 10 a.m. – noon. All seminars are co-sponsored by the William Carl Garner Visitor Center, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Aquatic Resources Education Program. The William Carl Garner Visitor Center is located at the west end of the dam on Hwy 25, north of Heber Springs.  The Visitor Center is open Thursday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  All programs are free and open to the public. 
Science Fair
West Side will be having their science fair Thursday, April 30, from 6-7 p.m. for grades 4-6.  Please come by and look at all the creative projects.
Master Gardener Plant Sale
The Cleburne County Master Gardeners will hold their annual Spring Plant Sale on Saturday, May 2, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Master Gardener Greenhouse located in Heber Springs at 725 South 4th Street back behind the City Sanitation property.  There will be signs pointing out the directions off HWY 25 near Lathrop’s Nursery and down South 4th Street too.  A variety of both indoor and outdoor plants will be offered as well as demonstrations, educational information and information on “How to become a Master Gardener”. Buddy Procter Golf Tournament
The Rotary Club of Cleburne County will be holding the annual Buddy Proctor Scholarship Golf Tournament Scramble on Friday, May 1, at the Red Apple Inn and Country Club. Entry fee is $75 per person due with registration. Carts, green fees, and lunch included in entry for competitors. Lunch is 11:30 a.m. Golf at 12:30 p.m. All proceeds for local scholarships (at least one scholarship for each school in Cleburne County). For more information, call Trey Miller at 501-362-3131.

Flag Retirement Ceremony
VFW Rosa Moore Post 4766 is having their first flag retirement ceremony. As you know the proper way to dispose of a flag is to burn it. Feel free to bring your old flag and let it be part of the program. This will be held at the Mountain View School football field, on May 2 at 6 p.m. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the ceremony.
Nicholas Project
The Nicholas Project, which makes clothes for pre-mature babies, meets the 2nd Thursday of every month from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. We need volunteers! We have some sewing machines as well as patterns and fabric. For questions and location call Eloise Bittle at (501) 362-3231.
Bingo
The American Legion #64 will have bingo every Friday at 6:30 p.m. and every Monday at 6:30 p.m.
Gentle Yoga Class
A gentle yoga class for cancer patients, survivors, and their family members will be held at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. This is a free class that will be held every Monday and is appropriate to all levels of ability. The focus will be on the breath and gentle, relaxing poses to promote stress relief and help lessen pain and nausea.
