Vannatter holds book signings

Author Shannon Taylor Vannatter will have several book signings for the first of her three-book inspirational romance series set in Romance and Rose Bud. They are: The Bible House in Searcy on November 6 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.; The Christian Book Center in Heber Springs on November 13 from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.; The Rambler Cafe in Rose Bud on November 20 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.; The Tea Room House in Heber Springs on November 27 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.; and That Bookstore in Blytheville on December 4 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The books are published by Heartsong Presents, a division of Barbour Publishing in  Ohio. Each book releases to a 10,000-member book club and then to stores six months later. White Roses, Vannatter’s debut traditionally published novel, will hit store shelves in November. Two more books in the series will follow: White Doves releases to the book club in October and stores in April, and White Pearls releases to the book club in January and stores in July. The books sell for $4.95 each.
All three books feature fictional and real locations including, the Romance Post Office and the Romance Waterfalls in Romance and the Rambler Café, the Darden-Gifford house, and the First Baptist Church in Rose Bud. Both towns are in White County, seven miles apart.
Romantics mail their wedding invitations and Valentine cards to the Romance Post Office to be re-mailed with the hand-stamped postmark. Brides often have an invitation mailed to themselves on the wedding date as a keepsake and couples come to Romance to get married, A new unique postmark is created annually and used from Feb. 1 – 15 and the 25-cent ninth edition in the popular Love postage stamp series was issued on January 18, 1990, in Romance, Arkansas. Romance and Rose Bud’s local flavor is worked into each novel.
Vannatter, a stay-at-home mom and pastor’s wife, has taught fiction workshops for several writers’ groups and conferences including Arkansas Inspirational Writers, Cleburne County Writers’ Guild, Fiction Writers of Central Arkansas, White County Creative Writers, Life Press Christian Writers’ Conference in Cordova, Tenn. and the Ozark Creative Writers’ Conference in Eureka Springs. In January/February 2011, she’s contracted to teach a 10-session writing class as a continuing adult education course at the Arkansas State University-Heber Springs.
