The Heber Springs Humane Society is one our greatest local resources, providing shelter to homeless animals and helping lost pets reunite with their families. Employees and volunteers go the extra mile to help ensure the pets under their care are properly fed and maintained with medical care, often when no one else in the community will. Their commitment to this cause is not only a valuable service to the animals, but to the community as a whole.
The level of care provided by the Humane Society comes at considerable cost. While they do recieve some local government support, as well as some funding from a dedicated group of private donors, it can be a struggle to maintain the appropriate level or resources needed to take care of the animals, especially when the shelter is filled to capacity.
To help the shelter, and our local furry friends in need, Cuts and Colors in Heber Springs is stepping up to the plate by partnering with the Heber Springs Humane Society for a supplies and food drive.
"For the entire month of April, Cuts and Colors has teamed up with the Humane Society to help with donations," said Kasey Griffin of Cuts and Colors. "If you bring in a donation of product or food, we're giving 10% off of chemical services or a free eyebrow wax."
Currently, the Humane Society needs dog and puppy food, canned dog food, kitten chow, non-clumping cat litter, bleach, floor cleaner, laundry soap, and old towels/wash cloths.
Griffin said she was excited to be able to help an organization that provides such a valuable service to the community.
"It seems like they always need help and I have a great love for animals," said Griffin. "All of us here do."
