The Sugarloaf Heritage Council held its July meeting last Friday and discussed the trails, as well as the upcoming event to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Arkansas State University (ASU)-Beebe.
ASU will be celebrating its 90th birthday on October 21 with a Climb and Dine event on the Heber Springs campus.  Arrows Cafe & BBQ will cater the event, which will include games, prizes, and other events. More information on the upcoming celebration is expected to be announced on August 1.
Kyle Graham and the Boy Scouts have built three picnic tables for the Wildlife Trail, which is currently under development.  They will be housed in the school pavilion until the trail is finished and three more tables will be built for the pavilion itself. The remainder of the trail is expected to be cleared later this month and they hope to have signage for the trail placed on its crossing at Rivercrest Drive.
It was reported that unsold SHC t-shirts were collected from the now closed Art Fix and would be stored until the Council could find another vendor to sell the shirts.
In other SHC news, the Board approved creating a scrapbook of the records of ex-SHC President Mark Johnson, finding a vendor for gate closers, and a recent fight at the trailhead which warranted a call to law enforcement.
The next meeting of the Sugarloaf Heritage Council will be Friday, August 4, 9 a.m. at ASU-Heber Springs.
