The Cleburne County Fair Board met on June 27 to discuss a number of issues regarding the upcoming Cleburne County Fair.  Chief among them was the need to fill the open position for the Poultry Barn.  Due to a resignation, the position is currently open and the Board is seeking an individual who would be willing to take care of the chickens and oversee the Poultry Barn during this year's fair.  Any interested parties should call Board President Philip Cannon at 870-668-3088.
This year's tabloid for the fair, showcasing schedules and other features, will be handled by Cleburne's local 4-H Teen Leaders, who will be contacting businesses for ads to fund the tabloid.
The Board discussed the events lineup for the fair, including a Gospel night on Friday, September 8, and a band on Saturday, September 9. As of publication, there is no carnival lined up for the fair, however they discussed designating that Friday as a 'fun day', with family friendly carnivall games and a dunking booth.  The traditional rodeo will take place Friday and Saturday evenings and this year's beauty pageant will be held Tuesday, September 5.
In other Fairgrounds news, the Board agreed to work on a wash rack for the goat barn and to pursue a $250,000 grant for building a covered arena on the grounds.
The 2017 Cleburne County Fair and Livestock Show will be held September 5-9.  For more information on this year's fair, visit their website at https://sites.google.com/site/cleburnecofairlivestockshow/home or their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CleburneCountyFair/
