The Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Cleburne County (SPSF) will be hosting a Talent Night and Karaoke and the 66th Annual Cleburne County Pageant during the Old Soldier’s Reunion, held the first weekend in August. These events are the only fundraising events for the SPSF. The winner of the Senior Miss Division will receive a $1,000 college scholarship. A $250 scholarship will be awarded to the Teen Miss Division winner.
Entry forms for both events can be picked up and dropped off at “Somewhere in Time” on Main Street, GiGi’s Golden Girls Clothing Store on the Bypass, or email for an entry form. For more information about these events and entry requirements, contact Lawrie Music at the email provided.
The Talent and Karaoke Event will be held August 4th from 6:00pm-9:00pm. The entry fee for the events is $10. Two winners will be selected, one from each event, and will receive $100 in prize money.
The 66th Annual Cleburne County Pageants will be conducted on August 5th. Entry fees for the annual pageant is $50 unless you have two children in the children’s pageants, then the fee is $40/contestant. The entry fee enters contestants in the following contests: beauty, photo contest, side awards, and one adult entry. Contestants may also pay for their entry fees and win additional prizes by selling sponsored donation tickets.
This year there will be a Morning Division, which consists of two subdivisions - an All Boys Division and an All Girls Division in ages from birth to five years old. Registration starts at 10:00am and the pageant starts at 11:00am. Four titles will be awarded in each of the Morning Division events.
There is also a Night Division, which is girls only from age 6 years old to age 22 years old. Registration for the Night Division starts at 6:00pm and the pageant starts at 7:00pm. There will be five titles awarded in the Night Division event.
On Thursday, August 3rd, the Old Soldiers Reunion parade will begin at 6:30pm and will start in the Harp’s parking lot. All new pageant contestants and past pageant winners are welcome to participate in the parade. For more information about riding in the parade, contact Lawrie. Rehearsals for the Talent and Karaoke event and for pageant contestants will be conducted right after the parade at the Spring Park Amphitheater. Beauty contestants can practice their walk and get pointers.
Shelton Jewelry will be providing the crowns for the pageant events. All proceeds from the pageant benefit the Single Parent Scholarship Fund.
