The Ozark Trail Festival dates back to 1966 and although enthusiasm waned over the years, it has been revived and could be on it’s way to being a great festival again if this weekend is any indication.

The festival began Friday, October 13 at noon but the real hit was at 5:30 p.m. with Heber Haw in the amphitheater. A spoof of the once popular show Hee Haw with Roy Clark and Buck Owens and assorted cast members. Cast members of Heber Haw were Jason Arnold, Katie Bennett, Vallie Cantrell, Shannon Carberry, Greg Davis, Kasey Goddard, Kiersten Grace, Payton Jarvis, Alan Malone, Wanda Malone, Chris Malone, Jenna Malone, Cynthia Mannix, Amy Tinnin, Rondel Sullivan and Trent Whitehead.

On Saturday, October 14 the festival held a classic cars show, held a parade, a bank robbery, music in the park, beauty pageant, western wear, beard and bonnet contest, a dog show and a concert by Kimberlie Helton band.

Sunday was the last day of the festival with a church service in the amphitheater and then the close of the festival at 2 p.m.

From the vendors to the music the Ozark Trail Festival appeared to be a complete success if attendance is the judge. Look to the Sun Times for more on the Ozark Trail Festival in future editions.
