The culmination of working hard and winning the National JAG (Jobs for America’s Graduates) came for Laura Ortiz Leal recently when she was honored at a reception at the Capitol in Little Rock.  Leal was honored along with students from Parkview High who finished 3rd at Nationals in Project Based Learning.

Leal said of the experience, “I was privileged to be able to meet Gov. Hutchinson. It was monumental to be able to have a conversation with a man of such high stature. Receiving the award in Washington, D.C. (the JAG National Math competition) and being recognized by the executive branch of Arkansas reinforced the significance of the event.”

Leal won the JAG National Math competition in December.

Coach Gaye Stark, JAG instructor, attended the reception along with Heber Springs High School Principal Marc Griffin.
