In January, Governor Hutchinson sent a letter to Ted Thomas, chairman of the Arkansas Public Service Commission (APSC), directing the commission to work with utilities to “as expeditiously as possible” take the necessary steps to pass on the benefits of the recently passed corporate tax cut to Arkansas ratepayers.
On Tuesday, Entergy Arkansas, Inc. filed a plan with the APSC that would pass on approximately $466 million in benefits to customers as a result of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. Reductions in customers’ bills could be realized as early as April of 2018.
Governor Asa Hutchinson issued the following statement applauding Entergy Arkansas’ plan:
“As you know, last December Congress passed and President Trump signed into law a comprehensive tax reform package. I am pleased to note that Entergy has filed for regulatory approval of a plan to pass through to Arkansas consumers $466 million in reduced tax as a result of the tax reform act. This will result in substantive savings for residential customers each month upon regulatory approval. I applaud Entergy Arkansas leadership for their decision, and I look forward to swift regulatory approval of this proposal.”
