At approximately 10 a.m. on Tuesday a pickup crossed the highway in front of an 18 wheeler log truck jackknifed on Hwy 16 just north of the Pearson Rd. cutoff. The driver, of the log truck, Murray B. Warth, saw the pick up approaching the intersection at a slow rate of speed. The truck then pulled into the intersection causing Warth to slam on his brakes to prevent hitting the pick up. Warth left skid marks 198 feet up to the intersection and and continued on another 140 feet before coming to a rest jackknifed with the rear of the trailer in the grass and the cab facing south on the highway. His diesel tanks were punctured during the accident and spilled diesel on the highway. First responders included Cove Creek/Pearson Volunteer Fire Department, Arkansas State Police, Game and Fish, Cleburne County Sheriff's Deputies and Cleburne County Office of Emergency Management.
