Nina Provence was honored with a retirement reception at the Heber Springs campus of ASU Beebe recently. At a recent Rotary Club meeting Provence reflected on her career in Higher Education and shared her experiences.
Provence spoke on how she returned to college after “living life” as a single mother trying to raise her two children on a high school diploma salary. She feels that by already having settled down and matured, she was more dedicated to her studies.
She worked as a GED instructor at UA Community College at Batesville for 17 years, earning her Master’s Degree during that time. Three years ago she came to ASU Heber Springs. She feels privileged to continue seeing the impact of higher education and lives changed through their educational experience.
Upon her retirement Provence will be working with her husband in his construction company in Batesville.
