It was a sight to behold, watching Han Solo defend the Millennium Falcon from an invading stormtrooper, when unexpectedly Obi-Wan Kenobi stepped in to use his Jedi forces against the dark side. Unfortunately, Darth Vader arrived in time to engage Obi-Wan in a lightsaber duel, striking him when he least expected it.

No, we’re not talking about Star Wars. We’re talking about Boat Wars.

Chris Malone won in his event last year with a Spiderman boat. This year, that same boat was re-designed by his dad, Alan, as boat #406, Star Destroyer 734. The senior Malone said it took him about a month to revamp the boat which was sponsored by Cleburne County Republican Women. Dressed as a stormtrooper, Chris fiercely maneuvered his ship to the finish line, defeating the Millennium Falcon in the process.

The Falcon, commanded by Tori Pulley of Seven Springs Rehabilitation and Health Center, was a team effort. It took the health-care team a couple of weeks working together to design and build the boat. They’re very proud of their participation and Captain Tori.

In the end, Malone and his Star Destroyer destroyed the opposition to take first place in the adult 1 or 2-man boat competition. The only question left? Who was that masked Darth Vader?
