If you want to run for a school board position, your time is passing quickly. The first day petitions could be circulated was June 17.
Potential candidates need to mark July 10 and July 17 on their calendars. Write-ins need to look at July 15 and July 22.
July 10 is the first day petitions can be filed at the Cleburne County Court Clerk’s Office. The last chance to file is noon, July 17.
If you don’t circulate a petition, but still want to run as a write-in, your filing period is July 15 until noon, July 22.
Positions coming up for election this year are: Heber Springs, position five, currently held by Jackie McPherson; Concord, position five, currently held by Tim Southerland; West Side, position four, currently held by Greg Gilmore; and at Quitman, position five, currently held by Sam Haley.
Position two is also up for election at Quitman. David Johnson vacated the seat before the end of the school year. Pay McNair was appointed to fill his seat.
The school board election is September 15 from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Most districts vote at their school. Heber Springs voters vote at the National Guard Armory.
