On January 23, the Heber Springs Police Department responded to an incident on the corner of Front and 2nd St that involved 2 cars, a house, and a tree being struck by a speeding motorist.  According to the report filed by Officer Mike McElroy, a 19-year-old white male was speeding on Front.  When he came over the hill at the intersection of Front and 2nd St, the vehicle temporarily went airborne and then struck a parked vehicle.  The driver then continued forward, striking another parked car.  The impact forced the second parked car to crash into the wall of a house, causing significant damage.  According to the report, a woman was in the shower of the damaged home at the time of the crash.  The force from the collision knocked the woman out of the shower, causing her to hit the toilet and the sink before falling to the floor.  The driver then hit a cedar tree, breaking it in half.  The collision with the tree finally brought the vehicle to a stop.

Both driver and passenger were taken to Baptist Hospital.  The passenger was checked for head injuries and soreness.  The woman in the shower was also taken to Baptist Hospital for examination and treatment resulting from the collision into the home.

The driver of the car was charged with misdemeanor Reckless Driving, Driving on Suspended for DUI, Failure to Maintain Control of a Vehicle, Disregarding a Stop Sign, No Insurance, and No Seat Belt.
