Arkansas’ Organizing for America (OFA), a grassroots project of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) dedicated to supporting the president’s agenda for change, will hold a press conference with Rep. Gene Shelby, Elisabeth Burak with Arkansas Advocates for Children & Families and Arkansas medical professionals Thursday, August 20th, 11:00 a.m. CST at Harmony Health Clinic to call on Congress to reform health insurance now.

During the press conference Rep. Shelby, will speak about the health insurance struggles he has seen as a member of the Arkansas legislature and explain why he supports the president’s plan.  Elisabeth Burak, Health Policy Director for Arkansas Advocates for Children & Families, will discuss why she supports the president’s call for health insurance reform.  Kyle Simon, Arkansas State Director for Organizing for America, will speak about the president’s call for health insurance reform now and detail how OFA will mobilize volunteers across the state to talk to their friends and neighbors about the president’s three health insurance reform principles and encourage Arkansans to contact their member of Congress to reform health insurance.   They will be joined by Arkansas medical professionals calling for health insurance reform now.

Organizing for America is building grassroots support for health insurance reform in communities across the country. Tens of thousands of people in all 50 states participated in OFA’s June 6th Health Care Kickoff events and in the June 27th National Health Care Day of Service.  OFA recently launched Health Care Stories for America, an innovative online tool where hundreds of thousands of health care stories can be shared, found and read – by city and state – from all across the country. Last month, OFA released its first television ad in support of health insurance reform called "It's Time" featuring the real health care stories of five Americans which are emblematic of the urgent need to reform America's health insurance system.  The ad was released on the heels of six web videos – “The Faces of Health Care Reform” – each featuring a personal health care story.
