Detectives from the Sheriff's Office are currently investigating a stolen vehicle report filed January 8th by a resident of Concord. The 1990 Chevrolet pickup, last seen Christmas weekend, was located at a salvage yard in Batesville the day after the report was filed. A picture of the missing truck had been posted on Facebook and a Cave City resident remembered seeing, what she believed to be, the same vehicle parked in front of Chinquapin auto salvage shortly after Christmas. The vehicle was postively identified as the one reported stolen, recovered and released to the owner. The wheels and tires were missing from the vehicle when it was located and the location of a gas powered generator reported stolen at the same time as the truck is still unknown. Detectives are currently pursuing leads in the case. Anyone who has any information about this incident is asked to please contact the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office at 501-362-8143.
Two other unrelated incidents investigated by detectives and patrol deputies from the Sheriff's Office landed two of cleburne County's parolees back in jail this week. Monday afternoon Deputy Jennifer Osborn responded to a reported burglary on Five Mile Road. In the process of taking the report, Osborn notified other patrol units of the name of the suspect and with a vehicle description. Before Osborn had finished taking the report, Deputy Justin Thurman located and stopped the suspect vehicle on Star Road near Wilburn. The driver of the vehicle, 41 year-old John Houston of Quitman, was arrested and booked into the Cleburne County Detention center on charges of Residential Burglary and Theft of Property. The property reported stolen from Five Mile Road was recovered from the vehicle and secured by the officers. Houston is also the suspect in a number of other thefts that are still under investigation. No bond has been set at this time.
Eugene Brown, a 46 year-old resident of Heber Springs was booked into the Cleburne County Detention Center Tuesday afternoon. Brown's arrest stemmed from a report made the the Child Abuse Hotline and investigated by both the Sheriff's Office and the Crimes Against Children Division of the Arkansas State Police. Detective John Hendricks has charged Brown with one count of rape and has presented an affadavit to the Prosecuting Attorney's Office. At this time, Brown is being held without bond.
