Arkansas State University – Heber Springs will join thousands in celebrating Earth Day next Wednesday, Ginger Halbrook and Amy Pettit said recently.
Halbrook, who is with Gamma Beta Phi, and Pettit, who is with Rotarct, are working together with others at the school to have a host of Earth Day events for the community.
“We will have recycling bins for the community,” Halbrook said. “People can recycle paper, plastic beverage bottles and plastic jugs with handles, aluminum, cardboard, and electronics.”
Events will also include roadside pick up for adopted highways. “We will be picking up along our adopted highway and we encourage any other groups who have adopted a highway to pick it up during Earth Day as well,” Halbrook said.
ASU-HS, along with the Arbor Day Foundation and Forestry Commission, will be handing out 400-600 free tree saplings. There will also be activities for children.
“We will also have information on the Sugarloaf Heritage Council as well,” Halbrook said.
Events will take place at ASU-HS campus in front of the building outside on April 22 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
