The city of Greers Ferry and the Greers Ferry Police Department announce the approval of a grant that will provide them with a new police car. Greers Ferry Court Clerk Judy Triplett applied for a grant from the Justice Assistance Grant Recovery Program and received notice on December 2 that the grant had been approved. The total for the grant is $29,500.

Police Chief Teagus Majors said the car has been ordered and will arrive in the next couple of weeks. He said the only cost to the city will be about $1,500. The new car will be complete with radar and camera system.

Majors stated that it was quite an honor to be awarded this grant, as Greers Ferry was only one of 99 police departments funded out of the 203 that applied in Arkansas.
