So much has been written about the assassination of Osama bin Laden it seems overkill to add more. With that in mind I would like to pen a few comments that might be a little different.
A recent novel concerned a troubled high schooler in a small town in Ohio. The high school had so few students it was almost mandatory that all boys participate in sports – especially football. One lad named Steve was practically forced to play football against his wishes. He was truly an unwilling participant and was only 1 of the 2 players on the third team. This little team did have some good players and they found themselves in the state championship game.”
One big problem - their star quarterback fell ill the night before the big game. In the fourth quarter of this championship game, with the score tied 14-all, the teams second string quarterback was downed with a vicious hit. With only a few minutes left it was time for the reluctant Steve, a third team quarterback, to enter the game. Having paid no attention in practice he didn’t even know the plays. The coach told him to take the ball from center and hand it off to their great running back, running right. The first play gained two yards and on the second play the star player broke through the line, scored a touchdown and won the game.
The headline in the local paper the next day read: “Quarterback Steve Brown directs the local team to state championship.”
I was reminded of this novel after watching and reading most of the main-stream media reports on what a hero Obama was for directing the extermination of the much despised Osama bin Laden. Just like our hero Steve, Obama only reluctantly took the ball from center and handed off to the Navy SEALS. Obama was only the figurehead and in fact as senator and as a candidate for president rallied against interrogation techniques such as water boarding. It is now generally accepted that these techniques were a major factor in identifying the courier that ultimately lead us to bin Laden.
Obama and his Attorney General Eric Holder (more about him later) have consistently proclaimed George Bush’s inhuman tactics of getting information from Iraq terrorists as torture and against all that America stands for.
On Sunday May 9th Chris Wallace had a very interesting question presented to one of the cheerleaders of the brave President Obama. His question – Why is it considered okay and even heroic to shoot an unarmed man to death and yet beyond our moral principles to use water boarding or other non-fatal methods to get information from an equally wicked man? There was no intelligent answer to this legitimate query only a continuation of liberal babble.
To add a little humor to this assassination of bin Laden go no further than the laughing stock columnist of the Dem-Gaz, Gene Lyons. In his column on May 5th he was so full of praise for Obama you could feel the syrup oozing from the pages. A famous line, not original to Lyons, was that Obama did in two years what George Bush couldn’t do in eight years. That declaration is so full of illogical thinking it doesn’t deserve comment. Perhaps the real jewel of this column is this quote, “It revealed Obama as one tough, shrewd cookie”. Personally I prefer a leader not described as a crumbled cookie.
Mostly lost in this episode is Obama’s partner in national screw-ups Attorney General Eric Holder. While most of the world is thankful for the extermination of
bin Laden, Eric Holder is pursuing charges against those that successfully conducted interrogation of al-Qaeda operatives. Mr. Holder evidently believes we should investigate and prosecute the CIA employees who were doing their job. Can you believe these CIA members may themselves face prosecution by the country they were trying to protect?
This is the same Eric Holder that along with our president so strongly supported the anti-Bush movement to shut down the Guantanamo prison for terrorists. This ill advised move was announced by our president in January 2009 and now almost two and one-half years later that dramatic but politically stupid move is lost in the sunsets of realism.
Lest you forget, Eric Holder some months ago announced that Khalio Sheikh Mohammed, the brain trust behind 9-11, would be brought to New York City to face civil trial. Even the Senate Democrats raised a ruckus over this and proclaimed they, along with the House, would block funds for the millions it would take to conduct this trial and try to secure New York City in such a fiasco. Holder seems immune to the danger to our country if the defendants were allowed access to secret information by the CIA which they use to protect our country.
To add to the growing evidence of incompetence of Mr. Holder is his failure to prosecute or even investigate videos of voter intimidation by several blacks in the last federal election. Thugs with clubs and intimidation tactics within a few feet of voting precincts didn’t bother our attorney general. After all as Holder explains, “We have more important issues to pursue.”
Forget about our economy, the monstrous national debt and the health care fiasco. If Obama and Holder have their way, this country could and probably will crumble and shrink to a helpless shadow of its self. Predictions that our country will collapse because of internal weakness and ineffective leadership could indeed be happening before our bloodshot eyes.

Only in America. You have the opportunity to mail your June tax payment to the U.S. Treasury who lost 1.6 trillion dollars last year using a post office that lost 2 billion in the first quarter. Don’t forget to mail your mortgage payment to Fannie Mae who lost 9 billion. Won’t it be great to pay your Medicare premium so the Obama healthcare can lose another trillion?
