Thomas Joe Welborn, Sr. passed away May 23, 2017
Thomas Joe Welborn, Sr. went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at his home in Heber Springs, Arkansas at the age of 84 years.
Born April 14, 1933 in Newark, Arkansas to parents Joe and Maude Brown Welborn.
Tom spent 17 years in Trucking and 35 years in the Auto Parts Business. The best job he had was pulling a Winston Cup Show Car around the USA with his helper (his beautiful wife of many, many years). He had never been to California until they pulled the show car. They made 3 trips in 5 months and he never wanted to go again.
Tom retired from Logan Auto Parts in Heber Springs. He enjoyed grandkids and even more the great grandkids! Tom was an active member of First Baptist Church. He sang in a quartet as a teenager. The first and only songs they learned were: On the Jericho Road” and “Just A Little Talk With Jesus”. They sang those on a Sunday night in the youth department in Training Union. Shortly after, one of the quartet moved out of town-that ended the quartet.
Survivors include his wife of 64 ½ years, Anna Lee Cavitt Welborn. One daughter, Sharon Thomas and husband Tim of Batesville, Arkansas. One son, Joe Welborn and wife Cindy of Heber Springs, Arkansas. Sisters: Ann Hankins of Cabot, Arkansas and Gail Davis and husband Bill of Concord, Arkansas.
Tom is also survived by grandchildren: Scott Sanders and wife Kim of Heber Springs, Blake Jones of Heber Springs, Brad Sneed and wife Ashley of Heber Springs, Carrie Wood and husband Sander of Greenbrier and 10 great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
A visitation and funeral services were held on Thursday, May 25, 2017 in First Baptist Church of Heber Springs by Rev. Brad Sneed and Rev. Jim Lagrone with interment in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Scott Sanders, Blake Jones, Sander Wood, Kenan Sneed, Joe Welborn and Tim Thomas. Arrangements by Family Funeral Service. www.dwightfamilyfuneral.com
