Alfred Ronald “Ronnie” Mullen passed away July 14, 2017

Alfred Ronald “Ronnie” Mullen, 86, of Bartonville, Illinois, passed away Friday, July 14, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on October 20, 1930 in Searcy, Arkansas to Otis and Sarah Leona (Burke) Mullen.  He married Glendora “Dory” Hungerford on November 16, 1951 in Heber Springs, Arkansas.  She survives.
He has four children surviving, Debbie Mullen of Peoria, Steve (Tobie) Mullen and Brenda (the late Paul Kerley Jr.)  Kerley both of Bartonville and Ken (Melissa) Mullen of Metamora; twelve grandchildren, Andrew, Meghan, Cody, Alex, Tyler, Calvin, Craig, Chad, Zach, Christin, Jake and Adam; Twelve great grandchildren with one on the way soon; two siblings, Winfred Mullen of Little Rock, Arkansas and Winsell Harris of Heber Springs, Arkansas and many nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by special friends, Buster and Nelda Lightbody of South Pekin, Illinois.  He is preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Ronnie worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 43 years retiring in 1991.  He later enjoyed delivering travel trailers for 14 years driving over 2 million miles.  He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Bartonville American Legion Post, #979.  He was a member of the U.A.W. 974 and the Good Sam’s Club for many years.  He loved his family, traveling, camping, boating and tinkering with cars and attending flea markets and auctions.  He is on his next adventure.
Ronnie’s family would like to thank the staff, nurses and doctors at OSF St. Francis for their exceptional care and compassion during his illness.  
A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, July 23, 2017 at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel. The Rev. Jack Thompson will officiate.  A visitation will be two hours prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral chapel.  The Celebration of Ron’s life will continue following the Memorial Service at the Bartonville American Legion. Cremation rites have been accorded and inurnment will be at a later date in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude.  You may create an online condolence at www.davison-fultonbartonvillechapel.com.
