Philip Cunningham passed away November 2, 2017

Philip Cunningham, 79 of Heber Springs, Arkansas, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, November 2, 2017.  He was married to Carole Cunningham for sixty-one years.
Phil was born on January 29, 1938, and was raised in New Bedford, Massachusetts.  He was the son of the late Joseph and Harriet Paul, and the late Joseph Cunningham.
Phil received his education at New Bedford Vocational-Technical High School, and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.  While stationed in Memphis, Tennessee Phil met and fell head over heels in love with Carole Cunningham.  They became husband and wife on June 16, 1956.  Phil served a tour of duty in Okinawa, Japan, and then was stationed in Florida before settling down in Memphis to a busy life, career, and raising four children.
Retirement in 2000 brought Phil and Carole to a peaceful life that they loved on the Little Red. River.  They became active members of St. Albert Catholic Church.
Phil was content and close to God when he was communing with nature.  He lived a quiet life of helping others, trout fishing, music, tinkering, spending time with loved ones, and traveling the country to visit family.
Phil leaves his wife, Carole Marie Joyner Cunningham: four children, Kelly Cunningham, Theresa Cunningham Wilson, Patrick Cunningham, and Joseph Cunningham: five brothers, the late Joe Paul, Jr. Vincent Paul, William Paul, Robert Paul and Timothy Paul: two sisters the late Doris Brightman, and Patricia Bernard, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a son-in-law, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 beginning at 10:00 A.M. at St Albert Catholic Church in Heber Springs and a Funeral Mass will be held at the church at 11:00 A.M the same day.
Pallbearers will be Trey Wilson, Justin Cunningham, Patrick Cunningham, JR., Patrick Cunningham and Joseph Cunningham. Interment will be in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens with Military Honors presented by the American Legion Post 64 of Heber Springs. Arrangements by Family funeral Service.
