Arnold Burl Garroutte passed away January 30, 2018
Arnold Burl Garroutte was born to Samuel and Juliet Garroutte on May 31, 1936 in Gideon, Oklahoma. He passed away on January 30, 2018 at the Southridge Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Samuel Garroutte. He is survived by a sister Lavern Woolard, five children -Karen Freeman, Randy Garroutte, David Garroutte, Terry Garroutte, and Linnet Tournear. He has 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Burl attended a one room school house as a boy where his mother was his teacher. He graduated from Tahlequah High School in 1955. Burl was an insurance salesman and farmer for most of his life. Singing gospel songs was one of his favorite things to do along with his own rendition of an Elvis Presley song every once in awhile. He always loved a good laugh especially if it was on someone else. In his younger years, he enjoyed a day in the hayfield but afterwards getting dressed up to go out and eat a good steak. His upbeat personality and smile will be missed by all of those that knew him.
