Phillip Rex Wassler passed away December 19, 2017

Phillip Rex Wassler, 75, of North Padre Island, Corpus Christi, Texas (2010), formerly from Quitman and Heber Springs, AR (1972-2010) went to his forever home December 19, 2017, peacefully around 3pm after dealing with several medical problems.
A Rosary and Memorial Mass were held Jan. 4, 2017 at St Andrew by the Sea Catholic Church, North Padre Island, Texas, officiated by Msgr. Michael Howell. This was followed by a reception and then later that evening a Cajun Shrimp Boil.
Phil was born in McCall, Idaho June 8, 1942, moved to California, then to Guam when he was 13 y/o (his Dad worked for Navy Civil Service). He served in the US Navy from 1959-1963.
He worked as a commercial diver off the coast of Texas, Louisiana & Norway and in Kentucky from 1965-1972, when he moved to Quitman. He was the Ozark Chimney Sweep 1978-1993.
His happy places are Quitman, the land, his garden, and the water, GFL and the ocean.
Still here are his wife of 53 years, Pauline, son Wayne, Corpus Christi, TX; daughter Nancy Groeneweg (Art), 4 granddaughters, Jennifer (Brian), Jerrika (Tyler), Jannae and Janelle, and great grandson, Jace (Jerrika & Tyler) all in WA.  Also, his sister Rosalie Musial (Ron) of Greenbrier and very special nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Maxine Wassler, his brother Dennis Wassler.
Phil had a lot of fun, many years of “makin’ memories” with his very special family and special family of friends
