Fanatta and Lavern were married on January 1st 1944, and with the exception of a few years in California and Illinois they have always lived in the Greers Ferry area.  In the 1970’s Fanatta and Lavern were able to purchase the land that at one time her parents own and where she was born and in the 1980’s they built home on that property and she had lived there until her death.

She was a member of the Lone Star Baptist Church in Greers Ferry, Arkansas.  She loved the Lord Jesus Christ and her family.  After her husband’s death and there were no garden to tend and no cows to look after she started quilting in the winter months and was able to make quilts for her children and grandchildren.  She would say you got to keep busy to keep going.  When it was just her, sister Wilma and her alive they would take many road trips and could take enjoyment from the trees, clouds, and rocks which she collected and brought back home.  She was always busy (working) and her nephews have been heard saying aunt Fanatta sit down.

She was a member of the order of Eastern Star, Sam Williams Lodge #89 in Edgemont Arkansas where she and Lavern both served as Past Worthy Matron and Past Worthy Patron along with other offices.
