Rosco D. Long age 77, passed away January 26, 2010 at his home after a short but valiant battle with cancer. He was born September 4, 1932 in Kelleyville, Okla. to Hershel and Thelma Long.
He was Vietnam veteran and retired from the Air force after 22 years of service to his country. He also retired from B.F. Goodridge after 10 years. He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Edgemont, AR, also a member of the Pine Snag-Lobo Fire Association, the Cleburne County Cares, and the Heber Springs Humane Society.
He is survived by his wife of the home Sigrid Long, also two daughters Catherine and husband Steve Dew of Higden, and Mennie Long of Heber Springs, two grandsons, Jason A. Hayes of Pine Snag, Jamison L. Hayes of Conway and one great-granddaughter Jenna Hayes of Conway. He is also survived by two brothers, Dewey Long of Heber Springs, and Leo Long of Wilburn.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hershel and Thelma Long, two brothers, P.L. Long, and Deward Long.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church on Hwy 16 between Greers Ferry and Fairfield Bay on Saturday, February 6. Immediately following will be an opportunity to visit with family and have refreshments. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Peace Lutheran Church 10849 Edgemont Rd, Edgemont, AR 72044 or the Heber Springs Humane Society 49 Shelter Ln. Heber Springs, AR 72543.
