James F. Porter of Heber Springs February 6, 2010, at the White County Medical Center in Searcy.  Born in Black Oak on July 6, 1941, he was 68. He was the son of Ruth Smith Porter and the late Lealon A. Porter.
Mr. Porter was retired from military service in the United States Army.
He is survived by two sons, Lealon Porter of Searcy and Rickey Porter of Cave City; his mother, Ruth Porter of Heber Springs; two brothers, Lloyd Porter and Verlin Porter, both of Texas; one sister, Wanda Jeffcoat of Texas; and six grandchildren. He is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.
Funeral services were held February 10 at the Olmstead Chapel with Lance Mays officiating.  Interment will be in the Wilson Cemetery near Rison.
