Artist K. Allen, 87, of Independence, Mo., passed away January 18, 2010. Artist was born December 15, 1922 in Drasco, the son of Emmitt G. and Bertha A. (Killon) Allen.  He worked for Belger-Cartage as a supervisor in the warehouse.
Artist was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and a craft enthusiast.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Pansy Allen of the home; a son, Roger D. Allen and wife, Judy, of Independence, Mo.; a grandson, Ronald K. Allen; a brother, Junior A. Allen of Independence, Mo.; and many other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. January 23 at New Salem Funeral Home.  Burial in New Salem Cemetery.  Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service at New Salem chapel.
