The family of Jessie Mae Andrews announces her passing away on Friday, January 20, 2012, at Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center.
Jessie Mae Andrews was born on July 2, 1914, in Jena, Louisiana. Her mother and father were Eula (Price) and Oscar Gilcrease. In 1931 she graduated from Warren High School in Warren, Arkansas, and in that same year she married her high school sweetheart Theril R. Andrews. Jessie lived in Warren, then moved to North Little Rock where her husband Theril Andrews passed away after being married for 25 years.
Jessie moved to Jacksonville Beach, Florida, where she worked at the Ponte Vedra Club and Resort for 25 years. She retired in 1984 and traveled extensively with her sister Gladys May. She visited her family regularly and she eventually moved to Canada to live with her son Theril R. Andrews and lived there for several years. Eventually she returned to the United States and lived briefly in Madison, Wisconsin. Jessie spent her later years in Heber Springs, AR.
Jessie is deeply loved by family and friends. She will always be remembered for her kind and loving ways, and her vibrant life.
Jessie is survived by three sons, Mark E. Andrews of Jacksonville, FL, Theril R. Andrews II of Heber Springs, and Dale R. Andrews of Jacksonville Beach, FL. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and siblings, Mrs. Norma Malone of Fairfield, CA, Mrs. Dorris Parker of Shalimar, Florida, and Lewis Gilcrease of Plano, TX.
Jessie is predeceased by her parents, Eula (Price) and Oscar Gilcrease, and stepfather, Robert Hudson; sister, Gladys May; stepbrother, Robert Rae Hudson; and husband, Theril R. Andrews I.
Visitation was held at Olmstead Funeral Home on Monday, January 23, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Burial was held at Oakland Cemetery in Warren, Arkansas, on Tuesday, January 24, at 1 p.m.
