Lloyd J. “John Beny” Liles of Hopewell, Arkansas, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 18, 2010, in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was 75 years old.
Born on June 3, 1935, to Jack and Bertie Liles in Rose Bud, Arkansas, he lived most of his life in Heber Springs except for a few sporadic years spent in Michigan City, Indiana and the last few weeks in Terre Haute, Indiana. John Beny never considered anywhere but Arkansas his home.
He leaves behind his five children, Michael Liles, Randy Liles, Kim Woods, Laurie Morris, and Lisa Selke.
Also staying behind are his four grandsons, Luke, Lee, Jake, and Davey, and a great-grandson, Joey.
Also surviving are his sisters, Dorothy Adcock, Velma McElroy, and Wilma Powell, and his brothers, Clayton and George Liles, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
John Beny was a long standing member of the VFW and American Legion where many will remember him fondly.
He was a simple man that lived a simple life. He enjoyed nothing more than a cold beer and working on his land. He was the kind of person who was always willing to help anyone that was more down and out than himself, sometimes to a fault.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Delbert, a granddaughter Amanda, and his daughter Tammye.
John Beny will be missed.
