Marie Joneas Black Chastain, age 90, of Tumbling Shoals, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2010, at the Southridge Village Nursing and Rehab Center in Heber Springs.  Born in Greene County, Arkansas, on February 20, 1919, she was the daughter of the late C. E. and Volena Black.
Mrs. Chastain was a homemaker and a member of the Heber Springs First United Methodist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Chastain, on June 22, 2006, and also by one brother, Willard Joneas.
Mrs. Chastain is survived by one daughter, Evelyn Gathright and husband, Shel, of Tumbling Shoals; two sisters, Delphia Ringer of North Little Rock and Imogene Allen of Sanford, Florida; one grandchild, Ann Higgins and husband, James; and three great-grandchildren, Shelby, Sarah, and Laura Higgins. Mrs. Chastain is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.
Funeral services were held February 20 in the Olmstead Chapel officiated by Rev. Kathy DeBusk.  Interment followed in the Chastain Cemetery. Casey Chastain, Chris Chastain, Ray Cannon, Ricky Logan, Darrell Logan, Marvin Logan, and Shelby Higgins served as pallbearers.
