Amy Grace Foust (nee Garrett), age 86, of Toms River, NJ, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at home.
Born in Yankton, S. D., on December 31, 1923, she was one of five daughters born to Clinton C. and Verna Sadler Garrett, who moved with their family to Mountain View and later to Heber Springs. A graduate of Heber Springs High School and Central Baptist College, Amy was a second grade teacher and then worked in a munitions factory in Little Rock during the Second World War.  She and Oren J. “Buck” Foust were married on December 18, 1946; they were married 61 years and were the parents of three children.  They lived for two decades in southern California, where Mrs. Foust taught preschool, and more than thirty years in New Jersey.  Mr. and Mrs. Foust retired to Tom’s River in Berkeley Township in 1994.
Mr. and Mrs. Foust were members of the East Dover Baptist Church. In every community where they lived, Amy was an active church member, serving in various leadership roles including Deaconess and choir, women’s mission society, teaching Sunday school and Bible study, and intercessory prayer. She developed a large network of friends and acquaintances with whom she maintained regular correspondence. An avid reader and life-long learner, Amy was given the honor of being the featured speaker at her 50th High School reunion in Heber Springs in 1991. In retirement, she studied art through Ocean County adult education and became an accomplished painter.
Mrs. Foust was predeceased by her sisters Jamie and Edith, and by her husband Oren J. Foust Sr.
She is survived by two sisters: Ruth Spradlin and Ethel Wolford of Arkansas; three children and their spouses: Oren J. “Jerry” Foust Jr. (Melynda) of Glendale, Ariz., Rhonda J. Cushman (David) of Norristown, Penn., and James B. Foust (Renee) of Easton, Penn.; four grandchildren: April Cushman (fiancé Ryan Powers), Michael Cushman, Sean Foust, and Amy E. Foust; a large extended family, and many friends.
The family will receive friends at Olmstead Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, January 27 from 6-9 p.m.  Funeral services will be Thursday, January 28, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Heber Springs, will be followed by burial at Antioch Cemetery in Drasco.
