This week's Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor,

I would like to write a letter in the letters section to tell the citizens of Heber Springs about the Community Garden that is a positive part of our community. This is our 5th year and the City of Heber Springs has given the space, water, mulch and help when needed. Our Mayor Jackie McPherson was in office when we started and Mayor Jimmy Clark  and Parks and Recreation Director Stacy Mills are now our sponsors. Kasey Griffin on the City Council and Paul Muse that acquired the mats between the plots are some of the people that made this possible. There are some plots available. The City asks only to give the excess you grow to some of the groups that give to those that can use it. This is a letter of appreciation to those that have helped including the Sun Times and AETN.

Dear Editor,

Residents of the first congressional district should be very proud of our congressman Rick Crawford and Senator Tom Cotton. Congressman Crawford was the only Arkansas congressman who stood for the people as a member of the' Freedom Caucus.

Most citizens have not a clue what is occurring with Obama Care, the toxic health care program. The insurance companies, drug companies, hospital and doctors lobbyist are instruments of the federal government. The federal government license and control all of these. They tell the doctors how much to charge, how often a person can see the doctor, how long a sick person can stay in the hospital and on and on. Team work they like to call it.

Senator Cotton made a speech on February 16 to the senate in which he cited a national newspaper telling how an American pharmacy company bought the patent of a foreign medicine which was selling for $150,000 a year. The American company raised the 7,000 percent a year. Senator Cotton emphasized this is a part of what is going on in our health care monster. This writer has used a denture filler; Cushion Grip, for about 50 years. It cannot be compared to any other. Recently it has disappeared from the stores. The last we got was from Amazon, the only place we could find it. We've searched the internet and found an article saying the company has teen bought out and is no longer manufactured. The little I ounce tube has teen sold for from $4 to $7. We found two tubes on Amazon last week for

$1030. Each. Is this not criminal and our good old federal government is supporting this.

Do you remember Governor Hutchinson's "Arkansas Works" program which rounded up 220,000 able bodied unemployed Arkansas residents and placed them on Medicaid which pays their medical cost and helps them learn a new job. Now it's up 330,000. See why we so desperately need the Repeal and Replace program. The average cost of American health care is just over $10,000 a year. Get the picture?
