What an insanely busy weekend!! I think I need a vacation from my time off! It actually started Thursday night when my friend Chris Stafiej and I went to Tunica for the night, then went to the American Legion and played BINGO on Friday night. Saturday, I got that text I always want to see. I could come see Holden! So off I went! Got to play with that lil guy all afternoon and evening! Love, Love, Love spending time with Holden!! On Sunday, I spent the day with friends, Jeff and Brenda Fudge. We kicked back in their pool enjoying the beautiful day it was! As everyone knows, I love to cook so I cooked ribs, shish-k-bobs, grilled veggies and corn on the cob and took for us to have a late lunch/early dinner while we were lounging in the pool. I have had maybe five really great days since moving to Heber on year ago and two of those were spent with the Fudges!

On Monday, I got up and headed down to Spring Park for the Memorial Day Ceremony. The American Legion Post 64, VFW-Tumbling Shoals, VFW-Quitman, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Confederacy, Sons of the American Legion, the American Legion Riders, the Ladies Auxiliary and the DAV all presented wreaths at the Veterans Monument in Spring Park.  Really great ceremony.

Then I went to pick up my dog from her Momma Vera’s (her godmother lol) and head to Little Rock to visit with an old friend, Troy who surprised me by having another mutual friend, Mark show up for dinner! What a great surprise. It’s really funny that the three of us are friends. If you wonder why I say that it’s because both of these men went to High School with my first husband Yet we have remained friends through it all. Mark has been battling cancer for a couple years now, but he looked really great, considering and it was a great surprise to get to see him even if only for a couple hours. Unfortunately, I had to cut the visit short because holiday or no, I still have a paper to finish.

When you are reading this on Wednesday, it is my one year anniversary of being at The Sun Times! It has been a somewhat rocky road since I came here, but I must say, I think the paper looks great these days. It is full of local news and a few local contributors as well. Keep them coming. As I have said on numerous occasions, I am pretty much a one woman operation and I have no problem taking news submissions from readers.I try to attend most events in and around Heber Springs, but it is just not always possible. So if you are at an event feel free to send pictures to me!

Tell a Veteran Thank you for your service when you see one at the store or at church. It is because of those who sacrificed it all that we continue to live in a free nation.

Until next time...
