HARRISON–Following a tough-luck 3-2 loss to Sheridan on Friday, Heber Springs responded with a 19-0 drubbing of the Northeast Arkansas Cyclones of Pocahontas on Saturday in an elimination game at the American Legion (AA) State Tournament at Jack Williams Field.

Heber Springs’ Post 64 Angels needed one win in the Zone 3 (AA) American Legion Tournament over the weekend at Mare Square to qualify for this weekend’s state tournament in Harrison. Standing in the way was rival Stuttgart, who crushed Post 64’s state tournament dreams by beating Heber twice in last year’s championship games in Benton.
Heber Springs hosts 7-on-7 games for five weeks each summer at Panther Stadium. Through the first four weeks, Heber’s first team continues to school familiar competition as the Panthers crushed Vilonia 26-6, dismantled Mountain View 23-0 and defeated Quitman 23-8 on Tuesday.

Quitman shook off two deficits as quarterback Aaron Parker hooked up with Cody Easter for a pair of 40-yard touchdown strikes, leading the Bulldogs past the Mountain View Yellowjackets 18-12 on Tuesday in 7-on-7 action at Panther Stadium.
Following a two-week dead period for high school football, Heber Springs looked crisp while avenging a June loss to Vilonia, beating the Eagles 18-16 on Tuesday in 7-on-7 action at Panther Stadium. The Panthers also defeated Mountain View 22-12 and Heber’s first team beat the second unit, 15-6.
The opening of the Heber Springs Community, Aquatics and Convention Center Tuesday brought rave reviews for the most part, at least from this reporter. Walking into the main lobby, I first noticed brightly colored red and green furniture that looked very eclectic in style.
