History is made with the sale of first lottery tickets in Arkansas

Karen Hargis (orange shirt) was the first Arkansas Scholarship Lottery customer in Heber Springs to buy tickets as soon as they went on sale Monday at 12:01 a.m. at Haile's Exxon in Heber Springs. She did not scratch any winning tickets.

About two dozen people stood in line at Haile's Exxon in Heber Springs just after 12 a.m. Monday in order to take part in the state's first lottery.
The first person in line, Karen Hargis, of Heber Springs, bought $5 worth of instant tickets, but did not win.
