Cleburne County Quorum Court held a special meeting Tuesday morning to appoint a new interim coroner. Christopher Hill, the current Coroner, submitted his resignation effective November 2.
Cleburne County Judge Brenda Hunt informed the Justices of the Peace that a new coroner had to be appointed to fill the rest of the term until Coroner-Elect Waren Olmstead could take office in January.
Justices adjourned to executive session where they interviewed two applicants and reviewed the resume of a third applicant who did not make the meeting.
After a brief time, the Justices came out of executive session. A motion was passed to appoint Kathy DeBusk as interim Coroner by 10 to 0 with one Justice absent.
Justices then passed a resolution to appoint Kathy DeBusk as interim Coroner until Olmstead could take office.
In other business, Judge Hunt told the Justices that the roof of the Judge’s office was in need of repair.
Justices unanimously passed an ordinance to appropriate the additional funds of $6,000 to Building and Improvements to cover the repairs
