The Fort Smith Public Library Endowment Trust will host a special evening with Van Buren author Anita Paddock from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Main Branch Library, 3201 Rogers Ave. Author of the popular true crime novel "Blind Rage" about the murder of Ruie Ann Park, publisher of the Press Argus, Paddock’s new true crime release is "Closing Time," the true story of the robbery and double murder that shook Van Buren on Sept. 10, 1980. Well-respected jewelry store owner Kenneth Staton and his daughter, Suzanne, were discovered brutally murdered, with nearly $100,000 in diamonds and other jewelry missing. The resulting manhunt led from Rogers to Jacksonville, Fla., and all the way to Vancouver, Canada.

A native of Van Buren, Paddock will discuss the book and the writing process beginning at 7 p.m. Copies of "Closing Time" will be available for sale and signing. Refreshments will be served.

Paddock also will appear for a signing from 6-8 p.m. July 6 at the Miller Branch Library, 8701 S. 28th St.
