Here it is a brand new year, 2019 Last year is behind us. Time to begin a new year (wish time would slow down). Time to put 2018 to bed, it is gone and cannot be changed. Whatever good things or mistakes that were made need to be put aside. I don’t make resolutions. For one thing, I know I am not going to keep them. Second, I don’t think that it does any good. Yes, it’s ok to set goals and strive to reach them. But, people think resolutions are made to be broken, with never any intention of keeping it. There is one goal I have set for me, notice I didn’t refer to it as a resolution. My goal is to become closer to my Lord and Savior through reading my Bible and praying more. Oh, yes, I do read my Bible and I definitely pray. When I started looking at my life for the coming new year, God laid it on my heart to be more diligent in reading my Bible. By being in the Word, I can learn more about being Christ like. I can never become perfect, there was only one perfect person, Jesus. What I need to strive to do is have Jesus’s light shine through me. How can I be more Christ like if I don’t know His word? How can I know His will for my life without searching my heart through prayer and scriptures? ,These are two very important goals to address for me. My Lord and Savior has brought Don and I though so much this year, the least I can do for Him is study His word and pray. Jesus is so faithful to me with His love unconditionally, I need to be more faithful to Him. We have received so many blessings this past year. I want to honor my Lord by becoming more Christ like. I thank Him for never giving up on me and carrying me through the times I couldn’t walk. Jesus is so faithful. It is my turn to show the same faithfulness to Him.
I am challenging you to set and keep this one goal: more Bible study and prayer. Not only am I challenging you, but myself as well. This is not a resolution , but a goal to focus upon and keep for the coming year. Can you imagine how our lives will improve if we will only devote the time to our goal as we do to watching TV doing a craft, or any other thing that we dedicate a lot of time to? I am not saying it isn’t ok to enjoy other things. What I am saying is how much joyful these past times will be when we put Jesus first. Yes, I am not just talking to you. I am pointing the finger at me. I have gotten into adult coloring. It is so enjoyable to create beauty with colors. (Notice I didn’t say drawing,) I can’t draw a stick figure. I sure enjoy putting color to someone else’s pictures. It is a no brainer hobby. I can forget problems and relax. Before I do this, I am setting my goal to read my Bible and pray. Jesus need to come first, then comes my coloring. This is my goal. Won’t you join me in setting a goal to put Jesus first in your life? I can’t think of a better way to start my day than with my Lord. God Bless AmenJoshua 1:8 “This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.” Romans 10:17 “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” Second Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” Psalm 119:11 “I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”
